Crossroads

Mimicking a crossroads signpost, each piece in this ongoing series is composed of a stainless steel pole three and a half meters high and ten signs. These are made from aluminum boxes finished with bright automotive paint and vinyl letters and numbers. One side of each sign indicates a city and its distance from the site where the piece is installed. On the reverse, a proverb or quote suggests something about the character, culture, religion, or ideology of the place. Often engaging a particular theme, ranging from immigration to state-sanctioned violence, these signposts have been installed in various locations around the world.
